The Secrets Of Paper And Ink

Lindsay Harrel presents a powerful story of healing, forgiveness, and finding the courage to write your own story.

Ginny Rose is an American living in Cornwall, sure that if she saves the bookstore she co-owns with her husband then she can save her marriage as well. Fighting to keep the first place she feels like she belongs, she brainstorms with her brother-in-law, William, and Sophia to try to keep the charming bookstore afloat.

Two hundred years before, governess Emily Fairfax knew two things for certain: she wanted to be a published author, and she was in love with her childhood best friend. But he was a wealthy heir and well out of her league. Sophia discovers Emily’s journals, and she and William embark on a mission to find out more about this mysterious and determined woman, all the while getting closer to each other as they get closer to the truth.

Three women, two  separate timelines, with one goal in mind. Sophia, Ginny, and Emily are all in search of something. All three are hurt by the men they have loved, and all three are looking to find their own worth. All journeys have a beginning and an end, but it is not those places where we find ourselves. I was quickly pulled into the story from page one, to see how each women handled each challenge presented to them was incredible. The story is a gentle reminder that God is in control of our each step and that He only wants the best for us. We should be living each day with a purpose.

Another well written book by Lindsey Harrel,  I am quickly becoming a fan and can not wait till her next book is released.

One of many quotes that spoke to me is “ Life is more than a beginning, a middle and an end. It’s about the countless moments woven in between the lines, the growth, the pruning.”

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

Who I Am With You

Jessica Mason’s husband and young daughter died in a tragic accident. She is grieving more than one loss and also facing life as a single mom with her unborn child. Ridley Chesterfield is hiding out in Hope Springs, Idaho, avoiding a political scandal and reeling from false media headlines that have hurt his good name. Both hurting, they discover that they are neighbors and a stray dog brings them together. Are they ready to step out in faith and begin dating one another.

Who I Am With You weaves together a modern-day romance with Jessica’s great-grandfather’s story from the 1930s, reminding us that some truths can cross generations and that faith has the power to change families forever.

The power of prayer is so important and was a central theme in the book. I loved how each character turned to prayer before making decisions. This is the first book by Robin Lee Hatcher, I look forward to the next book

Keep Believing, Keep Fighting

Our lives are minefields of challenges, that take their toll on our courage, our conviction, and even our faith. But God whispers to the weary, Don’t give up. Drawing from inspiring biblical stories and first-person testimonies of perseverance, bestselling author and pastor Kyle Idleman encourages you to cast your concerns on God, trust in his love and timing, pray for patience and strength, and seek out support in the family of God.

I have read the author’s other books, “The End Of Me” and “Not A Fan,” and “Don’t Give Up” was just as encouraging. Kyle teaches us to be free from everything that entangles and hinders us from moving forward and how to draw strength from God.

Don’t Give Up is just what we all need to bring ourselves into the life that God meant for all of us. Kyle challenges me to step up in my life to keep believing and persevere and to run the race that God has set out for me. We have all faced a time or two when we wanted to throw the towel in, give up or walk away, Don’t Give Up will show us what we need to do to stand tall and push forward and experience what God has in store for us. Kyle has a unique way of writing that pulls the reader in from page one and relate to the reader. I throughly enjoyed the how the author used different examples from the Bible, for instance, Hebrews chapter 11 lists people who faced enormous challenges yet found the faith to keep believing and the courage to keep fighting. We should do the same every day, to not give up. God know’s our plans way before we do, we need to trust Him in everything.

Don’t Give Up should be on everyone’s to be read list.

I received the Don’t Give Up from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Don’t Give Up

When you have a few pieces of the puzzle but no big picture, it’s easy to give up. The big picture is your guide for the whole process. It shows you where you’re going. It assures you that everything interlocks in a way that makes sense. The writer of Hebrews 11 defines the big picture of the cloud of witnesses as faith. Faith is the principle that joins all these various lives.

“Tell Her No Lies”

As children, Nina Fischer and her sister were plucked from foster care in Florida and brought to Texas by a wealthy uncle they’d never met after their mother went to prison for selling drugs. Now, as an adult, Nina loves her adopted father and wants to please him, but she’s chosen her own career path as a photographer and poet—choices state district court judge Geoffrey Fischer can’t appreciate. When she finds him murdered in his study on a night they’re home alone, she’s the prime suspect and has to prove her innocence or face her own prison term. Is she her mother’s daughter, after all?

The two men in her life want to help, each for their own reasons. Can she trust her on-again, off-again boyfriend, attorney Rick Zavala, whose political aspirations seem more important than Nina’s tragic loss? Can she trust her friend, photographer Aaron McClure, or will he use their friendship to break the biggest news story of his career?

While cleaning out her father’s things, Nina discovers a box of old letters and photos, revealing the secrets her father had been concealing for so long. When her biological mother makes an appearance at Geoffrey Fischer’s funeral and asks to be welcomed back into her daughters’ lives, Nina is even more determined to find the truth about her past. Following the evidence leads her on a journey of discovery about her father’s shocking masquerade as a law-abiding, family-loving Christian. Unlocking these secrets could prove deadly, but it’s the only way Nina will ever be able to trust love again.”

A high-stakes race for truth, Tell Her No Lies by Kelly Irvin is a story full of drama, suspense, and romance.

Despite the mystery, Tell Her No Lies does progress slowly. Between major plot points, the story drags without the action. Still, it kept me interested enough to want to know what would happen next with Nina, and I enjoyed it enough to read more from Kelly Irvin in the future. Twists and turns in this suspense filled novel will keep you guessing!!!

I was provided a copy of the book by Thomas Nelson and all reviews are of my own opinion.
