With You Always: Jody Hedlund

IMG_9160

Being different is sometimes the best thing. Elise Neuman, a poor immigrant and her sisters live at thhe Seventh St. Mission. They lost both their parents and are now homeless. Elise promised her mom that she watch over her siblings and hoping to find a job.

Thornton Quincy knows nothing about financial hardships. His dad owns a factory and was a successful business man. Thornton and his brother grew up privileged and never went with out.

His dad challenged both brothers to a competition to build a town along the railroad line. Elise encouraged Thornton to think about people as individuals with real lives, rather than mere numbers to add to his checklist of accomplishments, to think of others for a change and not himself. Love grows between them, but Elise is certainly by far not the type of girl his father would approve of.

This was the first book I read by Jody Hedlund. What caught my eye was the orphan train, but it was more than that.

How often do we give up on God because our prayers are not answered on our time, but His time! Miracles do happen, we just simply have to believe like Elise. She felt that since she did not have any power or influence, that God would not use her, when in fact He uses us each day, it is us who needs to put the distractions aside and start listening. Can’t wait for Book 2 and to find out what happens between Thornton and Elise.

As part of every web or Amazon review that I write,  Bethany House Publishers has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book.

Love My NingXia Red

Testimony time. This is month three with drinking 2 oz. of NingXia Red and taking Super C . Hair no longer falling out, I now see the hairdresser every 4 weeks, nails that are stronger and healthier, cravings gone (for those of you who know me, I love baking especially cheesecake and homemade cinnamon rolls,) not in the kitchen looking for mindless eating snacks, things with sugar are too sweet, actually sleeping through the night.

With all that said, I use to be a skeptic, not anymore. Are you a skeptic? Afraid to take the leap with essential oils? Guys, I am TELLING YOU THIS BECAUSE IT WORKS. I would not promote something, if I did not try it myself. Are you ready?

Time To Ditch and Switch?

I thought my mentor was crazy when she introduced me to essential oils and even went so far as to share the notion of ditching and switching cleaning products. Well…….that was the best decision! There is not enough time in the day to share EVERYTHING that has changed for me. But I will say, my house smells wonderful after cleaning with Thieves cleaner.

The Memory Of You

The Memory Of You pulled me in from the first page. How do we forgive ourselves? Natalie lost part of herself when her sister died 13 years ago.(I can not even imagine losing my own sister.) When her grandpa has a heart attack, Natalie returns to the winery in California. She has avoided visiting the winery since that awful summer. Natalie’s dad would like to close the winery due to poor business and its starting to get run down. Tanner Collins, an employee would like to see it closed permentaly, when he meets Natalie everything changes

This book is about redemption, love, family loyalty and how to move past a tragedy. I could not put the book down and my heart was heavy for Natalie. I hope the author writes a follow up to this book. I highly recommend The Memory Of You and carving out time to read it.

What’s in your makeup? As I get older I have started researching what chemicals and additives are in our food, cleaning products, shampoos, makeup etc. We only have one body that really is not our’s, its time we start respecting it.

These ingredients ARE NOT IN SAVVY MINERAL MAKEUP AND BETTER FOR YOU!!!!

Parabens (methyl-, isobutyl-, propyl- and others): a class of preservatives commonly used to prevent the growth of bacteria and mold. Parabens are endocrine (or hormone) disruptors, which may alter important hormone mechanisms in our bodies. Found in: shampoo, face cleanser, body wash, body lotion, foundation.

Phthalates (DBP, DEHP, DEP and others): a class of plasticizing chemicals used to make products more pliable or to make fragrances stick to skin. Phthalates disrupt the endocrine system and may cause birth defects. Found in: synthetic fragrance, nail polish, hairspray, and plastic materials.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS and SLES): SLS and SLES are surfactants that can cause skin irritation or trigger allergies. SLES is often contaminated with 1,4-dioxane, a byproduct of a petrochemical process called ethoxylation, which is used to process other chemicals in order to make them less harsh. Found in: shampoo, body wash, bubble bath.

Formaldehyde: used as a preservative in cosmetics. A known carcinogen that is also linked to asthma, neurotoxicity, and developmental toxicity. Present where quaternium-15, DMDM hydantoin, imidazolidinyl urea, diazolidinyl urea, sodium hydroxymethylglycinate, 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3 diol (Bronopol), and several other preservatives are listed. Found in: shampoo, body wash, bubble bath.

How To Pray With Power & Effectiveness

IMG_8928

The Essential Guide to Prayer: Life-Changing Teaching on the Simplicity of Having a Powerful Prayer Life, by Dutch Sheets is focused on implementing prayer into everyday life.

This book is based on the author’s personal reflections and experiences, as well as research and scripture passages. We should go further in our prayer life by learning how to be intentional when praying. God will answer our prayers on His time, not ours. After the first chapter, I started loosing interest in the book. Some areas were too preachy for me. I don’t need to be movtivated from a book to pray.

I liked some of the questions that are at the end of each chapter- Did you understand? Great resource if you want to focus more on prayer. All opinions in ths review are my own.

NingXia Red

Do you know the Story of Ningxia Red? Wondering how you can get your own Monthly Box of NingXia Red? I start my day with 2 oz of NingXia Red and supplements.

For centuries, residents of the Ningxia district of northern China have enjoyed the astonishing health and longevity supporting benefits of the wolfberry that grows there.* However, due to the Ningxia region’s physical and political isolation, knowledge of this potent superfruit remained relatively hidden from Western culture—until recently.

In 1993, as Young Living Founder, President, and CEO D. Gary Young was traveling the world seeking the natural secrets of life, energy, and vitality, he was introduced to Chinese scientist Dr. Songqiao Chao. Dr. Chao told Gary about a delicious berry that had been prized for thousands of years in China for its powerful health supporting benefits.* He further explained that the people who regularly ingested this berry led remarkably long and healthy lives.

While in China, Gary also learned that Chinese biochemists at the Ningxia Institute of Nutrition had analyzed the wolfberry and found it to be one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet. Gary became convinced that this superfruit needed to be made available to the world.

By combining the wolfberry with pure essential oils, Gary created the world’s foremost functional beverage, NingXia Red®. Young Living is proud to offer you the only nutrient drink on the market that combines whole Chinese wolfberries and pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils into a single beverage that tastes as good as it is good for you: NingXia Red.
